Healing Recipes

Food Can be used as medicine, they give nurtrition and heals body.

1.  Sesame chicken

During the month after childbirth while undergoing postpartum confinement (??? zuo yuezi), Taiwanese women must eat special foods designed to restore their health and encourage lactation. Several famous dishes feature prominently, with one of the most popular dishes being sesame chicken (???, mayouji — literally sesame oil chicken).. 

Function: Warm stomach, relieve stomach ache, strength liver and weight loss.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons sesame oil
Medium knob of ginger, sliced
1/2 chicken, chopped into large pieces
1 teaspoon brown sugar (Taiwanese black sugar)
750 ml Taiwanese rice wine
Water

2. DanGui Lamb Ginger Soup

Tonify blood and spleen, promote blood and fluid circulation, regulate hormones, improve complexion, and retard aging.

Both danggui and ginger are featured in many post-natal recipes because of their curative properties. Note: danggui is off limits for pregnant ladies.

If you have leftover lamb or mutton from the previous day, you can use it to make this soup. You don't have to parboil the meat, just cut it into large pieces.

Ingredients

15g danggui or Chinese angelica root
500g lamb or mutton (ribs or fillet)
150g old ginger
2 tsp salt
2 tbsp cooking wine
1 tbsp rice vinegar
Directions

Bring a pot of water to a boil, add the vinegar and parboil the lamb or mutton
Rinse to get rid of any grit or dirt
Scrub the ginger thoroughly. Rinse and cut into big pieces
Place the parboiled lamb and ginger into a big pot with 1 litre of water
Bring the pot to a boil and lower to a simmer
Simmer everything for about 1 hour or till the meat is tender
Add salt and wine to taste
Serve

3. Oxtail Soup with Sea cucumber

I used it to strength kidney energy and lower back. I helped me heal my lower back pain during my preganancy

Put half pound of Oxtail and 2 Oz Sea cucumber and ginger onoin, bring it to boil, then low fire cook 5 hours.
